In celebration of UK Mother’s Day, we took to a London studio to host a charming afternoon of cocktails and creativity with the city’s most exclusive ceramicist, Nick Dynan of Me Old China. Our guests painted their own customized “swear jars,” which took on the signature medieval-inspired typography of the renowned craftsman. The atmosphere was inspired as attendees took brush to clay and designed their “jars,” which could be more aptly described as flower vases covered in exquisite profanities. When they weren’t attempting to maintain a steady hand through the ceaseless giggles, guests found comradery in the diverse selection of female creatives that filled the room, like Charli Howard, Georgia Chambers, Jessie Bush, India Cardona & Mariko Kuo.

Nick Dynan is a freelance graphic designer turned ceramicist who broke away from technological barriers in pursuit of crafting art in the physical realm. Fusing his artistic eye with his love for branding, Dynan founded Me Old China in December 2022 as a bedroom project that soon turned into one of London’s most coveted creative brands. Word quickly spread and as orders poured in, the visionary was able to open his own studio based in North London, which now fulfills orders from around the world.
