WHICH BUTTERFLY YOU'D BE BASED ON YOUR ZODIAC SIGN

As we watch the Summer months wane and the leaves begin to hit the ground, a transformational process is truly underway. Fall is almost here, and MOTHER’s thinking all about metamorphosis.

Defined as “a change of form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one,” we are all in a constant state of metamorphosis. The zodiac asks us to shift and evolve every month with each sign bringing in a new opportunity to look at different parts of ourselves through a distinct metaphysical lense.

Just as butterflies were all once caterpillars, we all have a destiny to evolve into our most beautiful and radiant selves. Did you know that each sign transforms in it’s own way? That each star sign has a unique evolutionary blueprint?

So which butterfly are you based on your zodiac sign? Let’s take a look.

Aries

March 21 - April 19

Red Lacewing

Aries are known as the warrior of the zodiac – they’re fearless, brave and ready to take on any fight. Using their dorsal colors, Red Lacewings send out warnings to their predators before they strike because, much like Aries, when you hurt them, you inevitably hurt yourself. In true Aries form, they are always prepared for battle. They use their beauty to scare off the enemy and are known as a species that strives not just survive, but win.

Taurus

April 20 - May 20

Widespread Forester

Taurus is slow, stable, and craves to feel grounded, just like the Widespread Forester. You can find them living the Taurian dream of flying from light gap to light gap, basking in sunspots on the forest floor with wings outspread. Elegant and graceful in full flight and simply here to soak up life-giving energy, these creatures are always looking for the most comfortable spot to rest and receive in - same as Taurus.

Gemini

May 21 - June 20

Blue Morpho

Commonly referred to as the social butterfly of the zodiac, it’s clear that this species is the Gemini's perfect match. Even as a caterpillar, the Blue Morpho is social & constantly gathering in small groups, even when they begin their metamorphic journey. Gemini is the most magnetic energy in the room so it’s no surprise that this butterfly is famous for the bright blue sheen on their wings and being the most desired by collectors.

Cancer

June 21 - July 22

Elizabethan Butterfly

Fiercely protective, emotionally motivated and nostalgic AF, Cancer’s spirit animal is without a doubt the Elizabethan Butterfly. This large species has wings of beautiful greenish tones which have inspired longstanding human fascination, ultimately leading to it becoming a protected species. Much like Cancer’s divine feminine roots, these gorgeous creatures are held in the highest esteem and regard for their beauty.

Leo

July 23 - August 22

Emerald Swallowtail

Just like this special butterfly, Leo is here to be remembered, stand out and be seen. The Emerald Swallowtail mesmerizes us all with its uniquely blue, white, and orange spotted wings, making it impossible for anyone to look away. Just like Leo, these creatures are ruled by the sun, as their beauty is literally the effect of naturally-occurring light prisms. Need we say more?

Virgo

August 23 - September 22

Painted Beauty

Earth bound and in the pursuit of purity, order and calm, the Painted Beauty is the personification of Virgo energy. They love to settle on rocks by small streams or rivers whilst they bask and feed all day long. If disturbed, they normally fly high up into the trees and return to ground level when order is restored. Like Virgo, their intentions are clear and concise. They know where they want to exist and will always return back to their rightful position.

Libra

September 23 - October 22

Adonis Blue

Libra is here to restore peace and harmony in the world, much like the symbolism of the Adons Blue butterfly. This rare blue creature is known by many as a sign to embrace peace, calm and joy in the present moment. Found mostly in Libra season, they prefer to reside amongst the beauty of flowery hillsides and are named after the Greek god and ancient symbol of male beauty, “Adonis.”

Scorpio

October 23 - November 21

Monarch

In the zodiac, Scorpio rules the metamorphic journey and so does the Monarch butterfly. Serving as a symbol of transformation and rebirth, they are also representative of a sign from the universe that you’re on the right path to achieving goals. These babies are poisonous and can even result in death in large doses. Much like Scorpio, their beauty is both a blessing and if you’re not careful, a curse.

Sagittarius

November 22 - December 21

Eighty Eight

Sagittarius is the nomad of the zodiac. Constantly exploring and always looking for the next adventure. The Eighty Eight is highly active, easily disturbed, and rarely settled for more than a few seconds at a time. Much like the fire sign who is motivated by a good time, the butterflies are never stagnant and typically attracted to crowds. The creatures can be found nestling in human habitations in nature, like on the river bank of a jettie and the ash of a once-lit campfire.

Capricorn

December 22 - January 19

Peacock Butterfly

The Peacock Butterfly dawns eyespots and wing colors that resemble the face of an owl, a symbol of wisdom much like Capricorn. These markings serve to keep them from being attacked (along with their highly territorial nature). Especially feisty around breeding females, these protective, divinely masculine creatures ooze Capricorn energy in the best of ways. Stoic, hardworking and determined to achieve their goals, this butterfly is the earth sign’s perfect symbol.

Aquarius

January 20 - February 18

Colorado Hairstreak

The only species of its kind, the Colorado Hairstreak is the personification of Aquariuian energy. Known as the most aloof sign of the zodiac, this butterfly likes its space too and can be found in hills and canyons between 6500 and 9000 feet. This air sign prides itself on its uniqueness and individuality, turning heads with its distinctively iridescent purple, blue, and orange wings. Much like an Aquarius, you can't miss these beauties.

Pisces

Feb 19 - March 20

Godart’s Morpho

For the most spiritual sign of the zodiac, look no further than Godart's Morpho. Many Native Amazon tribes believe that these butterflies have great spiritual significance as guides that show heroes the truth about the world. It’s said they can even grant wishes! Their purpose is just like Pisces – to guide us towards our destiny through its deep connection to the mystical, unseen & otherworldly.
