INSIDE MOTHER’S UK SHOWROOM

LA and London are vastly different cities. One is filled with sunshine, iced matchas, and the kind of golden hour that never quite ends; the other is rain-soaked and storied, built on centuries of history and very good tea. They shouldn’t necessarily work together. Yet, MOTHER has a gift for finding her place — and the London showroom, tucked into the heart of Soho on one of the city’s most iconic squares, is no exception.

The building itself is newly constructed: clean lines, dark facades, geometric design. But step inside, and something shifts. Laurent Soler, the Parisian designer behind the interior, has a particular magic: an eye for unusual vintage pieces and a talent for turning empty spaces into rooms that feel lived-in, loved, layered. He brought warmth into every quiet corner.

Natural light — a rare thing in London, and non-negotiable for a brand born under California sun — pours through oversized windows onto warm woods, mohair, velvet in shades of deep red and muddy pink. Feminine curves soften angular furniture. Crystals catch the light. Florals and pottery invite you to stay a little longer.

During market, the showroom comes alive. Two to three weeks of meetings, new collections, the buzz of clients moving through and the space somehow manages to feel both professional and like coming home. Occasionally, Rebel the dog joins. He is, by all accounts, a very good boy.

We sat down with the team behind the showroom to hear how it all comes together — the space, the market, and everything in between.

Years at MOTHER: 6 months

Best advice your mother gave you: To remember that the most important thing is to be happy, no matter what I do or where I am.

Favorite cuss word: Blet (it’s a Russian cuss word but it’s incredibly Lithuanian of me LOL) otherwise, of course – fuck.

One moment that made you feel proud to work at MOTHER: I held four back-to-back brand training sessions one day, and afterwards, so many people approached me and expressed their gratitude for giving such an in-depth presentation, where they gathered so much information about MOTHER, the product, the care, and everything in between. Even though my voice was gone by the end of the last session, I felt really accomplished and grateful to be working at a brand I truly love and believe in!

What fit best describes your personality on a Monday vs a Friday: The Half-Pipe. Coming back to work after the weekend off, I always go for the most comfortable fit to kick off the week. Later in the week, I'll wear something a bit more cheeky :) 

Who do you nominate as captain of the MOTHERSHIP: Emily, who holds everything together for us! 

If you had to wear 1 fit for the rest of your life, what would it be: The Delinquent all the way! 

What wash name best describes your alter ego: Nighty Night definitely goes with my darker, inner self who's a bit more melancholic — a rock star at heart who also chooses black over anything LOL.

Who on the team is your emergency contact and why: It'll have to be Tori and Emily for prompt answers to any issues, but I'll go to Lina when some on-site, work-related advice is needed. She sometimes sees things in a detailed way that I can't!

Your zodiac sign: Gemini

The most ​Gemini thing about you: I have the most dual personality ever. Like, I will say black is my favorite color, but I'll turn up wearing loud colors. I hate change, but then I feel like I always need it. I'm also a forever introvert, yet I'm incredible with people and enjoy great company! Oh, and I love alternative/rock music, but I'm also a sucker for country. 🤠
