This April, MOTHER co-founders Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding made a trip to New York to host an intimate cocktail party with creatives and friends of the brand. Held at the Greenwich Hotel, MOTHER’s home away from home in Manhattan, the team took over the Axel Vervoordt-designed penthouse suite for their elevated yet laid-back ‘house party.’ Between sipping cocktails and receiving tarot card readings, guests including activist Meena Harris, models Pat Cleveland and Daria Strokous, and actress Minnie Mills danced the night away and connected with the next-gen creative class of NYC. Soon, the energy in the room came to an apex as Selah Marley gave an intimate fireside performance alongside her band and mother, Ms. Lauryn Hill, who lovingly provided backup vocals. Before presenting a five-track set consisting of four unreleased original songs, she spoke of love and her musical lineage to the enthused crowd in the room, including models Candice Huffine and artist Brianna Lance, who donned their favorite pieces from MOTHER’s spring collection. Music and community have always been a source of inspiration for MOTHER, and it’s gatherings like these that continue to light up the brand and inspire future collections.
