Seeing a London black cab on the streets of New York is a rare sight. Following our BOWIE® x MOTHER UK event in London with musician Alison Mosshart, our next stop was in New York to celebrate our second and final BOWIE® capsule. MOTHER co-founders Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding hosted an event at the Soho Grand’s iconic Club Room and brought together their favorite artists, editors, and tastemakers.
Like the collection, the event took inspiration from Bowie’s 1983 Serious Moonlight tour. Stacks of old-school televisions flashed dreamy sequences from the campaign and vintage Bowie footage, a sparkling disco ball beckoned attendees to the dance floor as DJ Va$htie spun beloved 80s hits. Guests like Tommy Dorfman, Candice Huffine, and Jemima Kirke arrived decked out in BOWIE® x MOTHER styles. The event culminated with a special surprise performance by King Princess, who sang a three-song set of Bowie classics and her original record Ain’t Together. What a night. Although it’s our final collaboration with Bowie, we’ll always prefer life on Mars.
